What first drew you to blogging?
I’ve always been a writer, but I “discovered” the concept of blogging in college and just started putting up posts here and there. I realized it’s a great way to write what I want, not what my professors or editors want. Now that I am an editor, it’s the only way I make time for writing my own material!
What is your blogging philosophy?
Blogging is for me.I’m definitely not a full time blogger or big blogger! Mostly just my friends and family read my blog, and I’m ok with that. I don’t need a lot of followers or comments because my blog is just a way for me to express myself. It’s like my own personal therapy.
What is one thing every mother should do with her kids?
Go for lots of walks to nowhere. Recently we discovered a love for taking walks around our town. Kenlee loves to discover new things around us, and I love the chance to get out of the house.
Favourite book/movie/song
I have pretty much zero time for reading or movies anymore. However, Kenlee loves to listen to music, so our current favorite songs are anything from The Muppets soundtrack. Mahna Mahna!
favourite blogs
The Bloggess, Blogging Dangerously, Baby Rabies, The Heir To Blair, Jennandtonica, Life With Ladies… I have soooo many more that I follow.
favourite way to spend alone time is:
Take a nice long shower without feeling rushed! And then catch up on my DVR.
Pedicure or manicure?
Pedicure for sure. I can’t stand my toes being unpainted.
Favourite guilty pleasure:
Reality TV and/or crappy teenager TV. Currently on my DVR list: Dance Moms, Project Runway, Teen Mom, 16 & Pregnant, any Kardashian show, Pretty Little Liars, Make It or Break It, Switched at Birth, My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding and more.
my biggest pet peeves are:
I’m a newspaper editor for a living, so many of my pet peeves are spelling/grammar related, obviously. I also can’t stand when people let their babies run around in just a diaper for long periods of time. Yes, I understand accidents happen (we‘ve been there). I’m talking about those babies that spend the entire day practically naked. Put clothes on your kid! Gosh that sounds rude, but it drives me bonkers.
ideal date night:
Wing night! On a rare night when my husband and I are both home (he’s a paramedic on the night shift), we like to put Kenlee to bed and indulge in homemade buffalo wings and fries, plus beer and a movie. I love that we get to eat “grown up” stuff by ourselves and it doesn’t require a babysitter.
hidden talents:
I’m a really good baker when I have the time. I love to do Christmas cookies every year, and I make some awesome birthday cakes.
sweet or savoury treats:
I have a serious sweet tooth. That’s probably how I got good at baking!
favourite meal
Anything Mexican! My mom calls me “Tami Taco” because I could probably eat Mexican food seven days a week. And now I have a craving for tacos….
favourite snack to make
In keeping with my love of Mexican food, I have to say chips and salsa. But I need a new recipe for homemade salsa. For now it’s jarred stuff, and that’s no fun.
Takeout or homemade meals?
It’s a mix if I’m being honest. We try to make a lot of meals at home (or rather my husbands does, because he does most of the cooking), but sometimes you just have to eat out. Mexican anyone?
define your style
Style? Does “clean and fits me” count? J I seriously lack in the fashion category, but as a plus size woman, I really try to live by the philosophy of “wear what works for your body.” I can’t wear all the things that my size 2 friends wear, and I’m ok with that. They probably can’t rock my curvy jeans either, so there!

Don’t have one. I just wear what I like and looks good!
favourite place/brand to shop at
Old Navy all the way. I can’t go a month without some sort or purchase in store or online. They hook me with the discount codes and coupons. I’m a sucker for a deal.
favourite way to spend the weekend.
At home! I like to travel, but I get frazzled when we’re always on the go. I’d rather just relax together as a family and enjoy each other’s company.
Favourite thing about mothering a girl
Definitely the clothes. Let’s be real. When people say “Oh, boy clothes are just as cute,” they are lying. Kenlee has quite the wardrobe and I’m not the least bit ashamed to say that she is usually dressed better than me!
