The Mama Interviews w7

It’s another fabulous week of The Mama Interviews!  This week we have Maegan from Chesterrific!
Hello Readers!  I’m excited to be featured on Kait’s blog and share a little bit about me and my babe.  Who am I?  Well I’ll just answer the questionnaire, and hopefully that will fill you in with the haps about me and my little family.

PhotobucketName/Blog/twitter handle ~ I am Maegan, a boy mama.  I blog at CHESTERRIFIC: http://www.ilovechesterrific.com, and I tweet too, I’m @Bloggerrific.

Age ~I’m 37 years old, my son is 2.5 years old, my hubs doesn’t want me to share how old he is.  He’s not that old!

What first drew me to blogging ~ I love to write, and I was getting married.  I started my first blog when I was dating/engaged to my hubs and I was all about the wedding blogs and forums; that morphed into our newlywed bliss status and then expectant parents/new mama blog!  As my lifestyle status changed so did my blogging, but along the way I’ve made some amazing friends in this bloggy world and now can’t imagine not blogging this online journal for my son.

What is my blogging philosophy ~ Blog for yourself.  Everyone says that, but it’s true.  Do posts that are fun for you.  I’ve tried my hand at DIY and I’m not good at it, it’s not my thing, but every now and then I seem to pull one off so I link it to a party.  I link to fashion parties because it makes me dress up a little bit more.  I share recipes because I love to cook.  I share a lot of random stuff because that’s what our life is, some days are easy-peasy and others are hectic, but no day is ever the same.  And yes, I just said above that I’m blogging an “online journal for my son” but then I shared that I blog things about me … I do that so he can look back someday and see who I was.  See what we did every day.  Yes, I share (over-share perhaps) all about my son, but it’s fun to write about myself and hopefully someday he’ll think his mama was cute/cool/crafty.  In the end, blog for yourself and what makes you happy.  Blogging should be a fun hobby, never a chore.

What is one thing every mother should do with her kids ~ Express unconditional love.

Favorite book, movie & song ~ I can’t narrow it down to just one book, but you can read a list of my faves that I shared over here.  Movie – without a doubt my favorite is Sense and Sensibility.  And song – pretty much anything country.  Yes, I heart country music.

Favorite blogs ~ My bloggy besties: Julie at Back to the Basics (yes, we have met and we text everyday), and my girl McMel of Oh Baby, it’s a Baby! (we’ve met too!).  I also love my cousin Nest of Posies, and I super puffy heart Whimsical Poppysmic. I always read: BonBon Rose Girls, Fly Like a Bird, Our Tiny Place just to name a few.  I’m in a Christian Ladies group and I read all their blogs, so there’s another couple dozen right there! I try to read a few blogs each night, catch up on my friends.

Favorite way to spend alone time  ~ A day at the spa.  Sounds cliche, but it’s a rare treat.  A couple times a year my hubs will send me for a massage.  I indulge and spend the whole day, it’s amazing.  But since that’s not very often, when I need quiet time I’ll go to bed and read a book.

Pedicure or manicure ~ Pedicure, I love fun colors on my toes (they’re currently neon orange).  My friend Rachelle and I try to get a pedicure every couple months, great time for us to relax and catch up.

Favorite guilty pleasure ~ It changes, but right now I’m addicted to sour cream & onion french fries from Potato Corner, and watching Downton Abbey while hiking on the treadmill. {working off the fries, its a vicious cycle.}

Biggest pet peeves ~ Static on the radio, loud talkers, loud noises, clutter, cupboards and drawers left open (when it just seems so easy to close them), when blog emails are “noreplyblogger”, when my hubs drives my car and doesn’t use the emergency break.  Always use the emergency break!  {I just read this to my hubs and asked if that was all, he responded “that’s a good start” … so, yeah, I have a lot and I’ll leave it at that}.

Ideal date night ~ Definitely sushi with my hubs at our fave place.  Then home for netflix and champagne.

Hidden talents ~ I can pick things up with my toes, and I have supersonic hearing.

Sweet or savoury treats ~ Savoury!

Favorite meal ~ My dad’s homemade spaghetti, salad & garlic bread.

Favorite snack ~ Deviled eggs with Siracha sauce.  Or a bowl of cereal.

Takeout or homemade ~ Homemade, I love to cook.  But going out to dinner is a close second.

My style ~ Casual, comfortable, yet pulled together.  Does that make sense?  I wear jeans almost always and like how dressed up and stylish an outfit can become.  I posted about fashion when I guest’d on Julie’s blog here.

Style icon ~ I’m not sure if I have a style icon, but I would happily take Jennifer Aniston’s closet!

Favorite place to shop ~ Marshalls and HomeGoods.  Our Marshalls is pretty freaking awesome, I could spend a long time in there, and a lot of money.  As with our HomeGoods, it is near impossible to leave empty handed.

Favorite way to spend the weekend ~ with my little family unit.  My husband works so very hard for us, allowing me to be a SAHM, we just love weekends when the 3 of us are together.  No chores, fun activities, we always go out to breakfast and to church, a lot of playing outside, ride the carousel, go to the park, have freinds over.  When the toddler naps hubs and I usually watch a movie. Life is pretty simple around here.

Favorite thing about mothering a boy ~ My son is adventurous, curious and so very sensitive and loving.  I didn’t have any expectations for mothering either a boy or girl, and since this is my first I didn’t have anything to compare to, but with my boy … I love our daily adventures outside: digging, gardening, looking for bugs.  I love how he cuddles and hangs on with a hung for 5 minutes, I never want to let go.  I love his pure innocent excitement over the simplist of things.  I love that he is happy 98% of the time and when he’s crabby I can tickle him into a good mood.  I never imagined that I would know so much about Delimbers, Fellerbunchers, Garbage Trucks, Bulldozers – you name it, we have it, and I love it!  I love that, with the help of my husband, we get to shape, create, mold, and guide our young toddler through childhood and into adulthood - our desire is to present to the world a strong and faithful man of God.

There you have it, me in a nutshell!  I hope you’ll come by CHESTERRIFIC and we can get to know each other more.  Thanks again Kait for having me today! xxoo
